Stan Shih

Chair of Porrima Inc.
Stan Shih co-founded Acer in 1976 and became Honorary Chairman of the ACER Group.
A social entrepreneur, Shih now serves as Chairman of the StanShih Foundation. He is a member of the board at Acer., Nan Shan Life Insurance Co., Ltd., Taiwan Public Television Service Foundation and Chinese Television System, the former boards of TSMC. In social and public services, he is Chairman of the Cloud Gate Culture and Arts Foundation, and convener of the Cultural Tech Alliance, Taiwan.
Throughout his career, Shih has received numerous accolades, including Businessweek’s “25 Top Managers of the Year” (1996) and was featured in TIME in the article “60 years of Asian Heroes” (2006).

Governments around the world. As professor he consistently scores the highest marks amongst students.
He has personally invested and/or managed a few strategic business enterprises that have set new standards for technologies and ecological business models based on strong patent portfolios. Several initiatives have passed from idea to global industries thanks to perseverance and holding of the investments without seeking an “exit”. Gunter often lends a helping hand to existing NGOs to further their objectives, and creates new organizations where no one seems to act and initiatives for the Common Good are needed.
He has a track record identifying innovative and sustainable growth sectors in the economy, translating these foresight and insights into investment opportunities. To date + € 5 billion has been invested in +200 projects with the creation of +3 million jobs. Gunter has written +25 books demonstrating his critical analysis of economy, management, technology and environment at local and global level, while offering hands- on innovative insights and solutions gathered through first hand field research, policy advise, and investments. He is father of six children, has resided on 4 continents and speaks 7 languages fluently.
